ARB INdonesia, INTERNATIONAL – The United States killed Iranian Revolutionary Guards Commander Major General Qassim Sulaimani in a drone strike to Baghdad International Airport, Friday (1/3). The murder order was immediately given by the US President, Donald Trump.

Iran immediately responded and promised to reciprocate the actions of the United States. The relations between the two countries are currently at the lowest point.

The potential for war between the two is so open. Iran and the US are on the brink of war. Like the US, Iran also has allies. In fact, Iran’s allies are known to be countries that are opposed to the US. Iran is known to have good relations with Russia and China.

Then will Russia and China help Iran if a war breaks out? The following is a portrait of Iran’s proximity to China and Russia.

Iran, China and Russia Joint Military Training

The Iranian Navy Army, China and Russia joint exercises in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Oman in December 2019. This Navy military exercise is an effort to prevent the pressure of the United States.

“The message of the exercise is lasting peace, friendship and security through cooperation and unity … and the results will show that Iran cannot be isolated,” the admiral of the Iranian fleet, Gholamreza Tahani said on state television.

As is known, the waters around Iran have become the focus of international tensions. The United States is putting pressure on Iran, such as suppressing Iranian crude oil sales and breaking Iran’s trade ties.

Iran and Russia Build Nuclear Power Plants

Iran and Russia Build Nuclear Power Plants Iran and Russia inaugurated a new reconstruction phase for the second reactor at Iran’s only nuclear power plant at Bushehr on the Gulf coast on Sunday (11/10/2019).

The reconstruction was inaugurated by the Head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi and the deputy head of the Russian nuclear agency Rosatom, Alexander Lokshi.

The reactor is one of two officially being built since 2017 at the Bushehr site, which is about 750 kilometers (460 miles) south of Tehran.

The 2015 nuclear deal signed by Iran with six major powers, including Russia, limits certain types of nuclear reactors that Iran can develop, and the production of nuclear fuel. But it does not require Iran to stop using its nuclear energy for electricity generation.

“In the long-term vision until 2027-2028, when these projects are completed, we will have 3,000 megawatts of electricity produced by nuclear plants,” Salehi said at the ceremony.

The Islamic Republic is indeed trying to reduce dependence on oil and gas through the development of nuclear power facilities. Russia is building a 1,000 megawatt reactor in Bushehr which will start operating in September 2011 and is expected to carry out a third of its construction in the future, according to AEOI.

As part of the 2015 agreement, Moscow is providing the fuel Iran needs for nuclear reactors.

China and Iran relations

The relationship between China and Iran has become even stronger since China experienced a trade war with the United States. China and Iran collaborate in the economic field. Naturally, because both are targeted by the United States.

Washington became increasingly aggressive towards Tehran in 2017. President Donald Trump warned Iran on Sunday that: “If Iran wants to fight, it will be the official end of Iran. Never threaten the United States again!”

After Trump’s statement, Pentagon officials are expected to give briefing to national security officials about plans to send 10,000 US troops to the Middle East amid rising tensions with Iran. (*)
